Base Salary
$125k - $150k/yr
Responsibilities
- Create reliable software systems controlling satellites in low Earth orbit
- Own software from requirements discovery and prototyping through development, testing, rollout, and ongoing production maintenance
- Design and build satellite capabilities involving sensors, inter-satellite lasers, and space-based cloud computing
- Work directly with end customers to deliver products and data that meet their needs
- Develop Linux-based C++ software for common processors and microcontrollers
- Develop embedded cryptography applications for satellites and ground equipment
- Build high-performance networks connecting sensor data to end users
- Create ground software integrating data processing with satellite command and control
- Develop models and simulations for flight-like vehicle software testing, network performance analysis, and research projects
- Build tools for testing across virtualized hardware, hardware-in-the-loop, and vehicle-in-the-loop environments
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, math, or a scientific discipline, or 2+ years of professional software development experience in lieu of a degree
- Development experience in C, C++, or Rust
- Knowledge of computer architecture, networks, debugging, and software testing
- Production experience with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes is preferred
- Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or CockroachDB is preferred
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret or Top Secret SCI clearance
- Must satisfy SpaceX ITAR eligibility requirements or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations
- Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed
