Responsibilities
- Own critical infrastructure and production systems end to end, including their reliability, availability, scalability, and long-term operation.
- Set technical direction for reliability practices and raise engineering rigor across the team.
- Operate and architect Kubernetes, cloud, storage, networking, and on-premise infrastructure at scale.
- Build automation and configuration-management solutions using Python or Go, Puppet, and Ansible.
- Design and support infrastructure for high-traffic, consumer-facing web platforms and interactive marketing experiences.
- Debug web applications at the network and protocol level and perform performance tuning, replication, and failover work.
- Drive reliability initiatives from design through production and mentor or influence other SREs and infrastructure teams.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience as a systems, storage, or cloud engineer, including technical ownership of production systems at scale.
- Knowledge of Linux utilities and internals, including OEL, RHEL, and CentOS.
- Expertise with Git, Jenkins, and Vagrant for version control and automated build and test systems.
- Expertise with Kubernetes in on-premise or cloud environments.
- Experience with at least one major cloud infrastructure platform, including architecture-level decision-making.
- Hands-on experience with NetApp, Isilon, and object storage platforms at scale.
- Hands-on experience with Puppet and Ansible for configuration management.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise-grade x86-based hardware platforms.
- Automation skills in Python or Go.
- Knowledge of IPv4, IPv6, DNS, HTTP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, plus experience debugging web applications at the network or protocol level.
- Preferred qualifications include internal platform or tooling development, high-traffic web platform support, mentoring or technical leadership, large-scale cloud and on-premise operations, container migration, Go web application development, performance tuning, replication, failover, and production infrastructure security hardening.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for explaining technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
