Responsibilities
- Program and further develop PLC applications in Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 using object-oriented IEC 61131-3 Structured Text.
- Design and implement scalable, reusable software modules and libraries, partly using Python, Rust, C, or C++.
- Integrate field devices and connect them through Modbus TCP/RTU, CAN, EtherCAT, and the existing system architecture.
- Develop and maintain HMI interfaces for controlling and monitoring complex plant processes.
- Connect plants to IoT and cloud infrastructure using MQTT, Kafka, InfluxDB, and Grafana for data processing and remote monitoring.
- Plan and conduct software tests independently and support commissioning at test stands and pilot plants.
Requirements
- Completed degree in engineering, automation technology, energy technology, or a comparable qualification.
- Practical experience in PLC programming, preferably with Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 or alternatively CODESYS or TIA Portal.
- Experience structuring modular, object-oriented software architectures.
- Confident knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus TCP/RTU, CAN, and EtherCAT.
- Basic understanding of control engineering and electrical engineering.
- Knowledge of Python, Rust, C, or C++ and experience with modern software development practices such as CI/CD are advantageous.
- Experience with Git and collaborative work using agile methods such as Scrum.
- Commissioning experience with technical plants, ideally in energy systems, power plants, or process engineering, is advantageous.
- Fluent German and good English skills at least at B2 level.
