Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain microservices-based APIs using Java and WSO2 API Manager.
- Build, deploy, and manage APIs, integrations, and microservices across on-premises and AWS environments.
- Develop payment-processing solutions covering payment initiation, clearing, settlement, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Implement API security using OAuth2, JWT, mutual TLS, and WSO2 API lifecycle management.
- Develop integrations using messaging, event-driven, and middleware technologies.
- Improve service reliability through monitoring, logging, alerting, performance tuning, and disaster recovery practices.
- Prepare API specifications, architecture diagrams, operational procedures, and support documentation.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, architecture reviews, and Agile ceremonies.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and provide production support for critical payment applications and API services.
- Identify opportunities for AI-assisted automation in API development, testing, monitoring, and operational support while validating compliance with enterprise standards.
Requirements
- More than 5 years of hands-on software engineering experience in enterprise application development.
- At least 5 years of end-to-end payments domain experience covering initiation, processing, clearing, settlement, reconciliation, and operations.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, API development, and microservices.
- Experience implementing and managing APIs with WSO2 API Manager and WSO2 Enterprise Integrator.
- Knowledge of API lifecycle management, governance, and security best practices.
- Experience with JSON, XML, OpenAPI/Swagger, and SOAP services.
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, and containerized application deployment.
- Experience with messaging and event-driven architectures using Kafka, IBM MQ, or similar technologies.
- Knowledge of payment standards and protocols including ISO 20022, SWIFT, and real-time payments frameworks.
- Experience with monitoring, logging, observability, application resiliency, and production support.
- Familiarity with Jenkins, Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence, SonarQube, and DevOps toolchains.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, collaboration, and independent-working skills.
- Preferred experience in banking, payments, transaction banking, or financial services organizations.
- Preferred knowledge of SWIFT, FAST, PayNow, GIRO, ACH, RTGS, or instant payment platforms.
- Preferred experience supporting high-volume critical payment systems with stringent SLA requirements.
