Senior Firmware Engineer - Communications

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional disciplines to refine product designs, improve reliability, and accelerate time to market.
- Brainstorm, evaluate, and select product features and technical solutions based on tradeoffs and first-principles analysis.
- Design firmware for power electronics controls, system behaviors, optimization, diagnostics, updates, communications protocols, and installation automation.
- Develop firmware for RF, powerline, wireless mesh, Ethernet, and other communications capabilities in home energy products.
- Build simulations, perform calculations, and design validation tests for firmware ideas and product designs.
- Design automation-support functionality and support firmware features within high-volume manufacturing processes and partner facilities.
Requirements
- Degree in a computer-engineering-related or adjacent field, or demonstrated commensurate ability.
- 5+ years of experience delivering firmware for new products as part of a development team.
- Experience developing with a wireless mesh network framework such as esp-wifi-mesh.
- Experience releasing high-volume products where 24/7 communications reliability was a core requirement.
- Experience with communication protocols, CAN, and Protocol Buffers.
- Experience with Espressif ESP-IDF product development.
- Experience with embedded Ethernet stacks, TCP/IP, BSD Socket API, and HTTPS.
- Wireless communications experience with Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Mesh, Bluetooth/BLE, and BLE-Mesh.
- Proficiency in C and working familiarity with CMake and Python.
- Working knowledge of oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other laboratory test equipment.
