Base Salary
$197k - $345k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build computer-use AI systems combining AI reasoning with deterministic execution.
- Develop agent recovery, verification, workflow state management, failure handling, and secure customer-access capabilities.
- Create evaluations and diagnostics to measure task success and identify regressions.
- Work directly with customers to understand workflows, prototype solutions, validate results, and investigate failures.
- Lead architectural decisions across agent execution, backend services, and workflow state.
- Evaluate model selection, tool use, and context management for reliability, latency, and cost.
- Implement systems hands-on, conduct design reviews, mentor engineers, and participate in hiring.
Requirements
- Lead architecture and delivery of complex backend systems through deployment, production failures, and improvements across multiple components or teams.
- Hands-on experience shipping and operating LLM-powered systems, including using evaluations and production failures to inform design.
- Ability to reason about concurrency, persistent state, retries, and partial failures in systems performing consequential actions.
- Proficiency in Python, Go, Java, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Ability to turn ambiguous customer problems into bounded technical approaches, validate them with users, and lead them through production.
- Willingness to engage directly with customers and discuss technical tradeoffs.
- Ability to use AI development tools responsibly while maintaining correctness, security, and maintainability.
- Preferred experience with agent tool use, code generation, automated recovery, evaluation frameworks, browser automation, workflow orchestration, enterprise integrations, early-stage products, or customer-facing engineering.
