Base Salary
$207k - $300k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and ship 0-to-1 proactive and background agent features end-to-end.
- Create agents that retrieve photos, run goal models, and organize users’ libraries into dynamic spaces.
- Align teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines while coaching a distributed engineering team.
- Partner with UX, product management, and engineering teammates to prototype and validate features using real photo data.
- Collaborate with Photos and Gemini teams to bring validated features into the main Google Photos application.
- Design and own scalable production backend systems for asynchronous task execution, state streaming, data and byte permissions, and tool/MCP interfaces.
- Work across client and server systems to deliver updates to live experiments quickly.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience programming in C++, Java, Python, Kotlin, or Go.
- 5 years of experience testing and launching software products.
- 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
- Experience integrating generative AI tools or LLM interfaces into workflows.
- Preferred: Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Preferred: 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- Preferred: 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
- Preferred: 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.
Benefits
- US base pay is $207000–$300000, plus a 20% bonus target, equity, and benefits.
