Responsibilities
- Own the architecture, design, implementation, deployment, and operation of Apple Data Platform services in China.
- Set technical direction and engineering best practices for a greenfield regional platform organization.
- Build highly available, scalable, secure, reliable, and observable infrastructure for data, analytics, AI, and machine learning workloads.
- Design automation for deployment, infrastructure management, developer platforms, and operational excellence.
- Collaborate with globally distributed engineering teams across China and the United States.
- Influence technical direction across software engineering, infrastructure, SRE, security, and product organizations.
- Ensure platform operations satisfy regional security, compliance, regulatory, and data residency requirements.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, or production platform technologies.
- Track record of owning architecture and delivering complex infrastructure or platform initiatives across multiple engineering organizations.
- Expert-level software engineering experience in Java, Go, Scala, Python, C++, or similar languages.
- Deep expertise in distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, Kubernetes, container orchestration, networking, and modern infrastructure platforms.
- Proven experience building and operating highly available, scalable, secure, and observable production systems at scale.
- Exceptional debugging, problem-solving, communication, and cross-organizational technical influence skills.
- Experience architecting large-scale data, analytics, AI, or machine learning platforms is preferred.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Spark, Ray, Kafka, Trino, Iceberg, Airflow, or other modern data platform technologies is preferred.
- Experience operating platforms across Alibaba Cloud, AWS, GCP, private cloud, or on-premises environments is preferred.
- Experience founding greenfield infrastructure or platform initiatives, building developer platforms, and operating in regulated environments is preferred.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
