Base Salary
$254k - $299k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define and drive the multi-quarter technical strategy for Payments across rails, orchestration, and transfers.
- Architect and evolve global payment rails integrations, routing, and funds-flow services for high availability, low latency, and cost efficiency.
- Lead the design and rollout of large cross-team initiatives such as global rails, decompositions, migrations, and resiliency programs.
- Establish technical standards for idempotency, reconciliation, failure-mode handling, and auditability across money-movement paths.
- Partner with FinHub, Payments Risk, Regulatory Platform, and Product to create cohesive architectures balancing customer experience, risk, compliance, and unit economics.
- Mentor senior and staff engineers across Payments pods and improve system design, review rigor, and maintainability.
- Use data and observability signals to identify platform gaps and lead reliability and efficiency improvements.
- Represent Payments in executive and cross-organizational forums, communicate tradeoffs, align stakeholders, and secure support for technical investments.
Requirements
- 10+ years building and operating large-scale distributed systems in production.
- Deep experience with money-movement architecture, including PSPs, ISO 20022, routing, double-entry, and high-volume payment systems.
- Deep backend programming expertise, including Python, Go, or Java, and experience with cloud-native architecture.
- Proven ability to design highly available, high-performance systems and anticipate scaling bottlenecks.
- Experience leading cross-functional technical initiatives and mentoring senior engineers.
- Commitment to technical excellence, best practices, and a strong engineering culture.
- Ability to distill complex technical concepts into clear, actionable solutions.
- Preferred: experience designing and operating large-scale ledgering or trading systems.
- Preferred: financial acumen involving accounting data and precise, reliable financial transactions.
- Preferred: experience collaborating closely with finance and accounting teams.
