Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and operate backend services, APIs, and microservices.
- Develop reliable, secure, and maintainable production software.
- Work on distributed systems, asynchronous workflows, messaging, and event-driven architectures.
- Contribute to technical design and make thoughtful engineering trade-offs.
- Troubleshoot production issues and improve system reliability and observability.
- Participate in code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, and engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with globally distributed, cross-functional teams to solve customer and business problems.
- Take ownership of software from design through production.
Requirements
- Practical software engineering experience building backend applications or services.
- Strong programming skills in Go, Java, Python, or a comparable backend language.
- Understanding of data structures, algorithms, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems fundamentals.
- Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
- Understanding of asynchronous processing, messaging, retries, fault tolerance, and service-to-service communication.
- Familiarity with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, or equivalent cloud-native technologies.
- Understanding of source control, automated testing, CI/CD, and modern software development practices.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical problems methodically and own solutions through production.
- Clear communication and effective cross-team collaboration skills.
- Permanent right to work in the UK is required; visa sponsorship is not provided.
- Candidates must be based in London or within a commutable distance and able to attend the office as needed.
