Responsibilities
- Design and build end-to-end features across Wise’s pricing services.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and code reviews while improving quality, reliability, and observability.
- Drive initiatives that improve the reliability, scalability, and flexibility of pricing products.
- Own technical roadmaps and project deliverables from requirements through delivery.
- Lead minor and major incident resolution and post-incident reviews.
- Partner with product, compliance, and stakeholder teams to shape requirements and priorities.
- Mentor and coach engineers and own onboarding for new team members.
Requirements
- Strong software engineering background with significant contributions to large, impactful projects in complex production domains.
- Experience with Java or a similar object-oriented programming language.
- Expertise in the relevant technical discipline, including designing systems for long-term iteration and scale.
- Ability to own the availability, reliability, and security of systems and make trade-offs among speed, scalability, and risk.
- Experience engaging with product, compliance, and stakeholder teams.
- Clear communication with technical and non-technical audiences and the ability to give and receive feedback.
- Preferred experience in payments, fintech, global distributed teams, compliance, audit, regulatory requirements such as SOX, fee disclosure, or tax, and configuration-heavy domains.
