Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship Copilot Search features end to end using React and TypeScript.
- Build performant, accessible, localized interfaces across web, desktop, mobile, SharePoint, and OneDrive hosts.
- Improve web performance through server-side rendering, hydration, rendering optimization, early data fetching, service workers, and bundle-size reduction.
- Integrate AI-generated answers, streaming responses, citations, source attribution, and graceful partial or failed-response handling.
- Instrument features with telemetry, define success metrics, and run A/B experiments and staged rollouts.
- Own feature reliability through monitoring, alerting, automated health checks, and diagnosis of client issues.
- Participate in on-call rotations, mitigate production incidents, and drive root-cause fixes.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend search and relevance engineers.
- Contribute to code reviews, automated testing, shared components, and engineering practices.
- Use AI-assisted development tools and LLM-based techniques to analyze feedback and evaluate quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
- Production web application development experience with React and TypeScript.
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS, browser rendering, web performance, and server-side rendering.
- Experience building and operating large-scale web applications.
- Experience with telemetry, A/B experimentation, and data-driven decision-making.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive user-interface development.
- Experience building LLM- or AI-powered product features such as streaming experiences.
- Exposure to mobile or cross-platform hosts and web experiences embedded in apps.
- Experience with live-site operations, monitoring, and on-call responsibilities.
- Familiarity with search or information retrieval concepts is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with comfort collaborating across time zones.
