Base Salary
$204k - $259k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop high-performance GPU primitives and abstractions to scale Waymo’s accelerator codebase across diverse GPU backends.
- Collaborate with internal hardware teams and external partners on GPU-focused SoC projects.
- Manage bring-up, correctness, and performance of the onboard stack on new GPU platforms.
- Contribute to GPU testing infrastructure that improves the CI/CD flow, detects bugs early, and generates automated alerts.
- Create profiler and debugger tools for new GPU platforms.
Requirements
- Proven expertise in C++ programming.
- Bachelor’s degree in EECS and a minimum of three years of industry experience.
- Experience with full-system simulation frameworks such as SystemC or Gem5.
- Solid understanding of GPU hardware architecture.
- Proficiency with performance analysis tools and debuggers.
- Enthusiasm for developing the complete GPU software stack from hardware to real-world applications.
- Preferred: knowledge of Linux device drivers and embedded firmware.
- Preferred: experience with diverse GPU deployment environments.
- Preferred: proficiency in GPU optimization techniques including memory coalescing, register/shared-memory tiling, pinned memory, and warp-level programming.
- Preferred: familiarity with GPU libraries such as Thrust, CUB, CUTLASS, or Eigen.
- Preferred: experience collaborating with external operators to ensure high quality standards.
- Preferred: experience contributing to open-source compiler projects such as LLVM or SPIR-V.
