Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable backend services in Node.js and TypeScript, including RESTful APIs, background jobs, and data pipelines.
- Architect and optimize Postgres databases through schema design, query optimization, indexing, transactions, and data integrity practices.
- Build low-latency real-time communication infrastructure using WebSockets and WebRTC for chat, audio, and video.
- Integrate third-party LLM, payment, reservation, notification, and CDN services with robust error handling and monitoring.
- Collaborate with AI/ML engineers on model-serving APIs, training data collection, and experimentation workflows.
- Own infrastructure, deployment, CI/CD, monitoring, alerting, observability, cloud-cost optimization, and system reliability.
- Design caching, performance, and scaling strategies capable of supporting 10x growth without rewrites.
Requirements
- 4–6 years of experience building production backend systems, ideally for consumer products, high-traffic applications, or startups.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js, including asynchronous patterns, performance optimization, and error handling.
- Expert-level Postgres knowledge, including complex queries, transactions, indexing, connection pooling, and performance tuning.
- Experience designing and scaling RESTful APIs with rate limiting, authentication, caching, and versioning.
- Hands-on experience with AWS and GCP cloud services across compute, storage, databases, and networking.
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code tools.
- Experience with WebSockets and WebRTC for real-time communication systems.
- Strong understanding of observability and monitoring, including logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting.
- Understanding of security, data privacy, and compliance as core engineering concerns.
