Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate the Analytics API and underlying infrastructure for product analytics event collection across Aura.
- Define schemas, integration contracts, validation, backward compatibility, and architectural approaches for ingestion, reliability, and scalability.
- Create an integration layer that enables product teams to send analytics events without coupling to downstream data infrastructure.
- Drive adoption across engineering teams through integration guidance, documentation, RFCs, and collaboration.
- Evaluate build-versus-buy decisions involving analytics and data tools such as Segment and BigQuery.
- Partner with the downstream data pipeline team to ensure raw events are reliable, well structured, and usable for analytics.
- Keep product analytics and billing concerns cleanly separated in shared data flows or infrastructure.
Requirements
- Strong backend software engineering experience with Go as the primary language, including production APIs, services, or ingestion systems.
- Experience designing well-defined APIs and integration contracts, including schemas, backward compatibility, validation, and consumer needs.
- Experience building production Go services ranging from utilities and scripts to long-running services or microservices.
- Some experience with TypeScript or JavaScript and comfort working across backend and frontend codebases; UI development is not required.
- Familiarity with event-driven systems, data ingestion, or data pipeline tools such as Segment and BigQuery.
- Ability to work independently, make pragmatic technical decisions, and drive work forward with limited direction.
- Experience writing RFCs and technical documentation and collaborating across teams to establish a new integration point.
- Clear and concise communication skills.
- Preferred: experience with observability, GCP, AWS, Azure, product analytics, event tracking, or telemetry systems.
