Base Salary

$138k - $190k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Build and deploy AI agents using Google Vertex AI and Google ADK from architectural specifications.
  • Develop Gemini-based agent behaviors with reliable tool calling, multi-step reasoning, RAG, and grounding against claims databases and policy documents.
  • Implement system instructions, few-shot prompts, Chain-of-Thought reasoning, and supervised fine-tuning for claims adjudication and medical coding.
  • Design reusable cloud-native, AI-enabled backend patterns using SQL, PostgreSQL, AlloyDB, and BigQuery.
  • Implement stateful orchestration with human review breakpoints so agents can pause, persist state, and resume after auditor approval.
  • Build input/output guardrails and circuit-breaker logic to intercept non-compliant, toxic, or hallucinated outputs.
  • Implement Google Cloud DLP or similar protections to prevent PHI exposure in model training or logs.
  • Support and extend existing Java and Spring Cloud microservice architectures.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of full-stack software engineering experience with a heavy focus on backend systems.
  • Exceptional Python development skills for production-grade applications.
  • Hands-on experience with Gemini, Vertex AI, and the Google Agent SDK (ADK).
  • Deep experience with the Vertex AI Python SDK, including Reasoning Engine Runtime, Extensions, and Function Calling.
  • Expertise in LangChain, LangGraph, or PydanticAI.
  • Proven prompt-engineering experience focused on hallucination mitigation and deterministic outputs in regulated environments.
  • Experience with RAG, grounding, tool calling, multi-step reasoning, guardrails, stateful orchestration, and LLM fine-tuning.
  • Experience using AI-enhanced development tools such as Cursor, WindSurf, or GitHub Copilot.
  • Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards and claims-related data structures is preferred.
  • Practical experience fine-tuning LLMs for industry nomenclature or structured output formats is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Java and Spring Cloud for supporting existing microservice architectures is preferred.
