Responsibilities
- Design and build durable engineering artifacts that reduce complexity and improve developer velocity.
- Develop and optimize machine learning models for delivery marketplace efficiency.
- Solve large-scale, low-latency, high-correctness engineering problems.
- Identify architectural risks and opportunities and address them with engineering leadership.
- Lead organization-wide framework development and adoption while promoting coding and design best practices.
- Translate ambiguous business requirements into production-ready technical roadmaps with Product, Science, and Ops.
- Lead engineering projects through inception, stakeholder engagement, implementation, and operations.
- Oversee incident management processes and direct on-call rotations.
- Mentor engineers and represent the organization within the broader technical community.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering, data engineering, and applying machine learning, statistics, or optimization techniques to large-scale problems.
- Expertise writing high-quality code for strategically important, cross-organizational problems.
- Advanced SQL and data warehousing proficiency, including identifying and reconciling architectural gaps.
- Experience leading organization-wide engineering projects through their full lifecycle.
- Experience overseeing incident management and directing on-call rotations.
- Ability to make sound long-term engineering and business tradeoffs.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred experience building high-performance distributed systems at 100M+ user scale.
- Preferred experience designing scalable, reliable, maintainable ML solutions using deep learning and statistical methods.
- Preferred expertise with Flink, Spark, Apache Pinot, Druid, and Big Data/Hadoop ecosystem tools.
- Demonstrated leadership, technical community representation, and ability to build alignment for large-scale technology transformations.

- Base salary range of USD $202,000–$224,000 per year for San Francisco, CA-based roles.
