Responsibilities
- Provide engineering sustenance and technical support for Zebra Android mobile computing products, including Android Framework/BSP.
- Diagnose, triage, and resolve complex Android system-level software issues through log analysis and Android AOSP source-code debugging.
- Troubleshoot the NFC stack, Host Card Emulation, secure elements, and custom RFID hardware abstraction layers.
- Develop and integrate AI-driven tools to automate diagnostics, streamline support workflows, and improve support efficiency.
- Collaborate with customers to understand data-capture use cases and provide effective technical solutions.
- Partner with software engineering, hardware/firmware teams, and product management to resolve issues and improve products.
- Create technical documentation, knowledge-base articles, and training materials.
- Mentor and assist other support engineers and share data-capture expertise.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline is required; an advanced degree is a plus.
- At least 5 years of relevant software engineering experience, including significant customer-facing or support experience.
- Exceptional hands-on experience navigating, modifying, and debugging Android AOSP source code.
- Proficiency in applied AI and the ability to build and integrate AI-based workflow-automation tools.
- Strong programming skills in Java, C, C++, and Python.
- Knowledge of NFC and RFID technologies, relevant protocols, and secure hardware integration is an advantage.
- Strong Android triage, debugging, root-cause analysis, problem-solving, customer communication, collaboration, and prioritization skills.
- Familiarity with Git, Gerrit, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience developing Linux device drivers is an advantage.
