Responsibilities
- Lead technical teams and define technical strategy and architecture across multiple services.
- Contribute hands-on coding across the full software development lifecycle, from analysis and design through implementation and QA.
- Design and develop new features while supporting run-and-maintain service activities.
- Drive best practices, code reviews, quality assurance, and process optimisation across multiple services.
- Lead projects from start to finish and translate customer requirements into technical designs.
- Mentor and coach developers while fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
- Collaborate with Product, UCD, Delivery, clients, and technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Champion user-centred working, including appropriate prioritisation of research, design, accessibility, and inclusive design.
Requirements
- Experience leading technical teams and defining technical strategy and architecture for multiple services.
- Full-stack or backend technical background with experience in Python and TypeScript or similar technologies.
- Experience with AWS or Azure cloud infrastructure and Terraform infrastructure as code.
- Experience delivering UK Government digital services and a strong understanding of the GDS/NHS Service Standard and assessment process.
- Experience delivering digital services within multidisciplinary product teams is desirable.
- Experience with accessibility and inclusive design, including WCAG standards, is desirable.
- Experience coaching and developing engineers and building collaborative team cultures.
- Experience delivering services in complex organisations or programmes with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities is desirable.
- Strong collaborative leadership, communication, presentation, stakeholder management, and prioritisation skills.
- Willingness to travel to client sites anywhere in the UK when needed and the right to work in the UK.
