
Engineer I, Embedded Software Design
Schneider ElectricResponsibilities
- Define system-level architecture for embedded products and ensure scalability and reliability.
- Design and develop industrial communication protocols including ProfiNet and EtherNet.
- Develop embedded systems, firmware, and protection algorithms for industrial, consumer, and IoT products.
- Develop, test, and optimize firmware for microcontrollers and embedded processors.
- Perform board bring-up, debugging, validation, and hardware-software integration with hardware teams.
- Implement unit tests, integration tests, and automated validation frameworks.
- Prepare technical documentation, design specifications, and compliance reports.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software teams on end-to-end product delivery.
- Support production, field deployment, and post-launch product maintenance.
- Mentor junior engineers and lead small teams.
Requirements
- 2–5 years of experience in embedded software or related product development.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electronics, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with firmware architecture for connected industrial products.
- Strong proficiency in C and C++ for embedded systems.
- Experience with RTOS, Linux, device drivers, and low-level programming.
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols and embedded interfaces including Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, ProfiNet, UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, and BLE.
- Familiarity with ARM Cortex-M/A, DSPs, or similar architectures.
- Experience with embedded IDEs, debugging tools, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with product development cycles and DFMEA.
- Knowledge of ISO 26262, IEC 61508, safety standards, and compliance.
- Preferred exposure to Linux-based embedded systems, Wi-Fi, Zigbee, LoRa, cloud integration, IoT platforms, power optimization, and battery management.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, teamwork, mentoring, and small-team leadership abilities.
