Responsibilities
- Build, deploy, and operate backend services that mitigate fraud and abuse.
- Collaborate with data engineers and utilize Spotify’s data tech stack.
- Evolve a distributed mitigation platform for internal fraud detection teams.
- Design APIs, workflows, and system safeguards to protect users.
- Improve system reliability, scalability, and observability.
- Partner with engineering teams across Europe and the US.
- Contribute to strong engineering practices including code reviews and documentation.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience designing and operating backend services in production.
- Experience with APIs, distributed systems, and service-to-service communication.
- Strong understanding of data modeling and SQL/NoSQL databases.
- Commitment to system reliability, scalability, and operational excellence.
- Ability to use metrics, logging, and monitoring for system improvement.
- Clear communication and effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Curiosity about trust, safety, fraud, or adversarial problem spaces.
