Responsibilities
- Design, build, ship, and monitor customer-facing Trust & Safety systems for identity verification, risk scoring, fraud detection, and AI-powered real-time detection.
- Deliver backend systems and contribute across the stack in collaboration with product managers, designers, and data scientists.
- Drive technical design reviews, architectural decisions, mentoring, code reviews, and improvements to team engineering practices.
- Build observable, reliable production services using structured logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, monitoring, and anomaly detection.
- Champion automated unit, integration, and contract testing and maintain high standards for code quality and maintainability.
- Use AI coding assistants for code generation, debugging, refactoring, code review, and exploring unfamiliar codebases.
- Contribute to distributed systems, asynchronous task processing, caching, event-driven architectures, search infrastructure, and REST APIs as needed.
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong track record delivering backend systems.
- Technical leadership experience through mentoring engineers, driving architectural decisions, leading technical design reviews, or shaping engineering practices.
- Strong backend engineering experience, ideally with Python and Django; experience with Java, Go, C#, or Kotlin is also welcome.
- Solid knowledge of relational databases, including schema design, query optimization, and migrations.
- Experience with structured logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, and production observability.
- Strong automated testing discipline covering unit, integration, and contract testing.
- Daily professional use of AI coding assistants such as Claude Code or Copilot, including validating and integrating generated output.
- Ability to work across the stack and navigate a React/TypeScript frontend.
- Preferred experience with React or React Native, Celery, RabbitMQ, Memcached, Redis, Elasticsearch, Django REST Framework, continuous deployment pipelines, infrastructure as code, and custom AI-assisted development workflows.
- Strong collaboration, analytical thinking, system design, user experience, written and spoken English, and comfort with Scrum, Kanban, or XP.
