Base Salary
$149k - $199k/yr
Responsibilities
- Investigate undesirable autonomous vehicle behaviors across simulation, hardware-in-the-loop, and on-road operations.
- Debug complex issues across perception, prediction, localization, planning, controls, and vehicle subsystems.
- Analyze system logs, telemetry, and software outputs using Python and develop automated diagnostic workflows with Python and Spaceship.
- Build interactive performance dashboards using Python frameworks and business intelligence tools such as Looker.
- Identify recurring behaviors, regressions, and system-level performance issues and categorize them into meaningful failure modes.
- Translate technical root-cause findings and performance metrics into clear summaries for engineering teams, release narratives, and executive reporting.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Robotics, or equivalent work experience.
- At least 5 years of professional software or systems engineering experience with safety-critical, complex systems such as autonomous vehicles, robotics, medical devices, or aerospace.
- Thorough understanding of robotics systems, including sensors, actuators, and software autonomy stacks.
- Strong proficiency in Python for data analysis and scripting, along with modern software development principles.
- Experience building data visualizations with Python frameworks and willingness to learn business intelligence tools such as Looker.
- Proficiency with Git and standard version-control workflows.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, root-cause analysis, communication, and technical synthesis skills.
- Master's degree is a strong plus.
- Experience with AV diagnostic and visualization tools such as Planner Analyzer is a bonus.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis and machine learning techniques relevant to performance evaluation is a bonus.
