Responsibilities
- Manage operating systems across Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Amazon Linux, and Windows Server environments, including configuration, hardening, access, storage, networking, and lifecycle management.
- Own the end-to-end patch management lifecycle, including automated scheduling, compliance reporting, remediation tracking, and use of patch-management tools.
- Design and maintain monitoring, metrics, logging, alerting, dashboards, runbooks, and centralized observability integrations.
- Manage backup and restore solutions, validate recovery procedures against RTO and RPO objectives, and remediate backup failures.
- Develop scripts, automation workflows, self-healing mechanisms, and version-controlled infrastructure code to reduce operational toil.
- Troubleshoot production issues, participate in incident triage, on-call rotations, major incident restoration, postmortems, capacity planning, disaster recovery, and business continuity exercises.
- Define and manage SLIs, SLOs, health checks, automated remediation processes, deployment hygiene, and operational readiness across teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology or a related field.
- Hands-on production experience managing RHEL, Amazon Linux, and/or Windows Server and understanding Linux and Windows administration fundamentals.
- Knowledge of SRE concepts and principles, including SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, incident response, observability, and toil reduction.
- Experience with patch-management tools and processes such as Red Hat Satellite, AWS SSM Patch Manager, WSUS, or Ansible.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Dynatrace and CloudWatch.
- Experience with backup solutions such as Cohesity and AWS Backups, including restore testing practices.
- Scripting proficiency in Bash, Python, and/or PowerShell and understanding of automation or configuration-management frameworks such as Ansible.
- Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, technical documentation, and runbook-writing skills.
