Responsibilities
- Define and evolve the target architecture for a next-generation secure communications platform.
- Design and implement scalable service and data platforms using Kafka, ScyllaDB/Cassandra, Redis, and MariaDB.
- Develop event streaming, distributed storage, caching, high-availability, and stateful distributed services.
- Ensure platform components meet security, compliance, encryption, access-control, hardening, and certification requirements.
- Provide technical leadership and guide engineering teams adopting platform integrations and architectural patterns.
- Collaborate with Operations and C++/Python developers across agile Scrum teams.
- Drive adoption of AI-powered tools, solutions, and practices to improve operational efficiency and business outcomes.
- Apply performance engineering practices including load testing, capacity planning, cost modeling, observability, profiling, and system optimization.
Requirements
- Extensive experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems in production.
- Strong expertise with event-driven and distributed service and data platforms, especially Kafka, Cassandra/ScyllaDB, Redis, and MariaDB/MySQL.
- Hands-on experience with high-availability architectures, clustering technologies, load balancing, and stateful distributed services.
- Programming experience in Python and the ability to work effectively with C++ codebases.
- Strong understanding of TLS, PKI, encryption at rest, access control, and secure system design.
- Professional communication skills in both German and English.
- Experience with geo-redundant, multi-site platforms is beneficial.
- Experience with enterprise virtualization, cloud computing, and hybrid infrastructure environments is beneficial.
- Experience in Common Criteria or other certification-driven environments is beneficial.
- Experience with deployment automation, large-scale infrastructure provisioning, and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform is beneficial.
