Base Salary
$210k - $252k/yr
Responsibilities
- Operate and improve large-scale Kafka-based messaging and platform infrastructure.
- Improve the reliability, scalability, performance, observability, automation, and operational excellence of asynchronous communication platforms.
- Design and implement high-throughput, low-latency, and fault-tolerant systems.
- Troubleshoot production issues, support incident analysis, and drive root-cause remediation.
- Optimize AWS infrastructure usage and promote reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.
- Develop platform capabilities, standards, tooling, and best practices for safe growth in message volume, topics, and clusters.
- Contribute to architectural decisions involving messaging, traffic patterns, service communication, and platform reliability.
- Partner with engineers and teams across the organization to drive technical solutions.
Requirements
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and production experience with distributed systems.
- Solid experience with Kubernetes, networking, and AWS in large-scale or business-critical environments.
- Experience operating infrastructure-heavy platforms with high reliability and availability requirements.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across application, infrastructure, and network layers.
- Experience improving observability, automation, and operational tooling.
- Understanding of scalability, resilience, performance, and failure-isolation patterns.
- Ability to work autonomously on ambiguous technical problems and drive execution.
- Strong collaboration skills across team boundaries.
- Experience with Apache Kafka or other messaging and streaming technologies is preferred.
- Experience with platform engineering, SRE, infrastructure-focused backend engineering, multi-account AWS environments, large-scale cloud operations, or high-throughput event-driven architectures is preferred.
