Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define product requirements and incorporate feedback into designs and solutions.
- Translate functional requirements into system designs, communicate component interactions, and align solutions with business needs and timelines.
- Design and develop product components, refine implementation plans, and lead design reviews.
- Estimate project work, consider delivery costs, and escalate issues that may cause delays.
- Create and maintain extensible, reusable code while driving code quality through metrics and best practices.
- Debug moderately complex issues and identify opportunities for product automation.
- Lead code reviews and provide feedback on coding standards and implementation quality.
- Create complex test plans, identify test gaps, and address defects proactively.
- Use data analysis, monitoring, and observability standards to identify patterns and defects.
- Participate in on-call rotations, troubleshoot incidents, and assist with incident resolution.
- Build and enhance developer tools supporting programs and applications.
- Stay current with technical trends and recommend knowledge and resources to other engineers.
Requirements
- 7.5+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Distributed Systems, or a related field.
- Extensive Java, Spring, and Hibernate experience, including concurrency, multithreading, and performance optimization.
- Deep knowledge of distributed systems, including microservices, event-driven architectures, service mesh, consensus algorithms, coordination services, distributed data patterns, caching, messaging, availability, and fault tolerance.
- Experience with Raft, Paxos, Zookeeper, etcd, Redis, Hazelcast, Memcached, Kafka, RabbitMQ, and Pulsar.
- Experience with Java IDEs, Git/Stash, Maven, and Jenkins.
- Extensive API development experience with SOAP or REST, JSON, XML, OAuth, SAML, GraphQL, gRPC, API gateways, API versioning, rate limiting, and Spring WebFlux or similar frameworks.
- Experience with SQL datastores, Unix/Linux, database sharding and replication, distributed databases, and distributed file systems.
- Experience with DB2, MySQL, HDFS, S3, distributed tracing, logging, monitoring, automation, CI/CD, and auto deployment.
- Hands-on experience integrating and serving LLMs at scale, including OpenAI API, Azure OpenAI, Claude, or Llama.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Cline, plus AI/ML inference endpoints in distributed environments.
- Knowledge of vector databases, RAG applications, prompt engineering, and AI model fine-tuning.
- Experience designing scalable microservices handling millions of transactions and using Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, container orchestration, chaos engineering, and resilience testing.
- Ability to write clean code, communicate distributed architectures, collaborate effectively, and troubleshoot distributed systems.
