Base Salary
$194k - $291k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect a network bonding framework aggregating bandwidth across Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile cellular providers.
- Build ns-3-like simulations to stress-test networking against tunnels, rural dead zones, congestion and other edge cases.
- Develop custom congestion-control algorithms for high-bitrate, low-latency video streaming.
- Design and implement custom FEC and ARQ approaches for challenging high-mobility network conditions.
- Partner with Hardware and Embedded teams to optimize the network stack on the vehicle gateway.
- Write performant, thread-safe code for networking and real-time systems.
Requirements
- 5+ years of industry experience, or a PhD focused on Networking or Distributed Systems plus 3+ years of industry experience.
- Deep understanding of the Linux networking stack, socket programming and data flow from the physical layer to the application layer.
- Expertise writing performant, thread-safe C++ and understanding real-time systems.
- Strong understanding of TCP and UDP and experience implementing FEC or ARQ.
- Preferred experience with video streaming frameworks such as WebRTC.
- Preferred understanding of video codecs including VP8, VP9, H.264 and H.265.
