
Linux Kernel Software Engineer - Systems Engineering

Responsibilities
- Develop new features within the Linux kernel for enterprise storage products.
- Maintain and patch Linux code to resolve difficult technical and customer issues.
- Optimize kernel performance across CPU instruction sets, NUMA, interrupt handling, threading, and other system layers.
- Lead software architecture and development from concept through release.
- Diagnose hardware-software boundary issues with cross-functional teams, partners, and vendors.
- Participate in code reviews, define requirements for storage server projects, and mentor peers.
Requirements
- Deep hands-on experience with Linux kernel, Unix, and device driver development; five years of experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of computer architecture, operating systems, networking, algorithms, and data structures.
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, design, validation, and technical communication skills.
- Experience optimizing performance across CPU instruction sets, NUMA, interrupt handling, and threading.
- Preferred experience upstreaming Linux kernel code and working with storage concepts and protocols, especially NVMe and PCIe.
- Experience working with hardware vendors to resolve difficult problems is preferred.
- Professional C++ experience is valued in addition to C.
