Responsibilities
- Build, deploy, and operate scalable, reliable, observable, secure, and performant production systems for hardware labs and manufacturing sites.
- Develop automation to reduce operational toil and improve production system operations.
- Monitor systems, respond to incidents, enhance alerts, and implement automated alert handling.
- Create incident response runbooks, write postmortems, and implement solutions to prevent recurring incidents.
- Deploy systems incrementally and in staged releases, and plan and communicate production maintenance windows.
- Triage infrastructure and platform issues, support software engineers with troubleshooting, and coordinate with third-party vendors.
- Identify infrastructure bottlenecks in product development workflows and design and implement solutions to resolve them.
- Adopt infrastructure and platform best practices and implement scalability, fault tolerance, and availability improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering plus five years of experience, a master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering plus five years of experience, or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of Go, Python, or Bash shell scripting sufficient to implement medium-complexity automation workflows.
- Linux or UNIX administration and debugging experience.
- Hands-on experience deploying and managing Kubernetes on bare-metal infrastructure.
- Experience provisioning servers with Ansible and Ansible Tower/AWX.
- Experience with Docker and virtualization technologies.
- Experience with air-gapped systems and infrastructure-as-code.
- Strong problem-solving and software troubleshooting skills.
- Desirable experience managing MySQL or equivalent relational databases, Prometheus and Grafana monitoring stacks, Artifactory or Docker registries, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, Zuul, and Terraform.
