Base Salary
$135k - $175k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the health, uptime, and performance of Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
- Collaborate with internal customers to identify challenges and plan improvements.
- Automate routine tasks using Python, bash, or similar scripting languages.
- Engineer and maintain database monitoring solutions.
- Develop and test comprehensive backup and disaster recovery strategies.
- Optimize SQL queries to enhance system efficiency.
- Document configurations and actions taken on database systems.
- Support the professional growth of database engineering staff through coaching.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for database support.
- Act as a subject matter expert for database design and optimization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of experience in IT, or 5+ years in database reliability or DevOps.
- 5+ years of experience optimizing SQL queries and data replication.
- 5+ years of experience developing monitoring tools and tuning databases.
- Expertise in at least two database technologies such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
- Experience with highly available solutions and clustered environments.
- Knowledge of configuration management automation.
- Understanding of data structure design and modeling.
- Familiarity with development cycles to interface with developers.
