Base Salary

$129k - $202k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, document, and maintain product source code in C/C++.
  • Analyze and develop firmware according to internal and customer specifications.
  • Perform unit- and system-level testing, failure analysis, and debugging during development and validation.
  • Develop low-level firmware, operating systems, device architectures, and system architectures with hardware and ASIC design teams.
  • Work across firmware disciplines throughout the SSD architecture.
  • Translate product requirements into development and validation plans with project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate priorities and activities with engineering stakeholders to meet committed milestones.
  • Design and improve NAND media-management algorithms for performance, endurance, reliability, and quality of service.
  • Analyze drive-level performance and telemetry data to identify bottlenecks and implement firmware or media-management improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience developing, validating, or optimizing embedded firmware for SSDs or other NAND flash-based storage products.
  • Experience with SSD architecture and standards or interfaces including NVMe, PCIe, NAND interfaces, error correction, and flash translation layer design.
  • Experience debugging and root-causing complex firmware issues on pre-production and production hardware, including failure triage and log and telemetry analysis.
  • Experience developing C/C++ in embedded environments using tools such as Git, Python, and C/C++ debuggers.
  • Preferred experience with NAND media management, including data placement, wear leveling, garbage collection, defect management, and endurance or reliability optimization.
  • Preferred experience designing and debugging algorithms that improve latency, throughput, and performance consistency under sustained workloads.
  • Preferred experience bringing up, characterizing, or qualifying new NAND generations and converting characterization results into firmware policy improvements.
  • Excellent written, presentation, communication, interpersonal, teamwork, multitasking, influence, and leadership skills.
