Base Salary

$171k - $273k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Provide cross-domain system and product-level technical leadership for SSD firmware architecture.
  • Drive architectural requirements, feature assessments, architecture scoping, and solutions for new customer requests.
  • Lead, develop, review, and document product source code in C and C++.
  • Analyze, architect, and develop low-level firmware according to internal and customer specifications.
  • Model algorithms, benchmark implementations, and perform unit- and system-level testing, failure analysis, and debugging.
  • Develop firmware, system, operating-system, and device architectures in partnership with hardware and ASIC design teams.
  • Translate product requirements into development and validation plans and coordinate priorities across engineering stakeholders.
  • Establish technical direction, coding standards, development processes, and firmware technology roadmaps across engineering teams.
  • Engage strategic customers to translate requirements into architectural solutions.
  • Mentor senior engineers and serve as a technical authority across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of software or firmware development experience in embedded systems using C or C++, including at least 8 years in SSD firmware architecture or NAND flash storage systems.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership across ASIC, hardware, firmware, validation, product engineering, manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Expertise in FTL, QoS, wear leveling, garbage collection, bad block management, ECC/error recovery, power-loss protection, and NAND flash management.
  • Preferred experience with performance, reliability, power, cost, and scalability tradeoffs in architecture decisions.
  • Preferred expertise in enterprise storage interfaces and protocols such as PCIe, NVMe, and NVMe-MI.
  • Preferred experience with SSD security technologies including TCG Opal, IEEE 1667, ESSC, AES, Secure Boot, and firmware authentication.
  • Preferred experience with controller ASIC and hardware architecture teams, emerging storage technologies, and firmware technology roadmaps.
  • Preferred experience with QLC/PLC NAND, Zoned Namespaces, Computational Storage, CXL, and NVMe over Fabrics.
  • Preferred understanding of software development lifecycle, automated validation, and release management for embedded firmware.
  • Strong written, presentation, communication, influencing, multitasking, and leadership skills.
