Responsibilities
- Design, develop, troubleshoot, and deliver secure, high-quality production software solutions.
- Build and operate backend services and distributed systems using Java, Spring Boot, AWS, persistence technologies, and event-driven architectures.
- Review and debug code written by other engineers and promote secure coding, peer review, automated testing, and reusable engineering patterns.
- Lead adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices, including code review, refactoring, test acceleration, and incident analysis, with validation for correctness, performance, and security.
- Identify and automate recurring issue remediation to improve application and system stability.
- Lead evaluation sessions with vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectures, technical capabilities, and fit with existing systems.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating backend services with Java 11/17+ and Spring Boot, including Spring MVC, Spring WebFlux, and Spring Security.
- Experience designing and delivering distributed systems using caching, idempotency, retries, rate limiting, and circuit breakers.
- Hands-on AWS experience with ECS, EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, ALB, VPC, and Route 53.
- Experience with RDS/Aurora/PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, S3, and ElastiCache.
- Experience implementing event-driven and streaming architectures with SQS, SNS, Kinesis, MSK or Kafka, and workflow orchestration with Step Functions.
- Proficiency with CI/CD and infrastructure as code using Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
- Experience leading approved AI-assisted software development tools and establishing safe validation practices for AI outputs.
- Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, secure input/output handling, resiliency, security, and compliant engineering workflows.
- Advanced understanding of agile delivery, CI/CD, application resiliency, secure-by-design engineering, communication, and technical judgment in regulated financial services.
