Responsibilities
- Write, review, and ship production client application code across iOS/iPadOS, Android, and Electron/Angular.
- Design and implement features end-to-end from technical approach through testing and release.
- Build secure, reliable communication between client applications and Cricut hardware over Bluetooth, BLE, USB, and Wi-Fi.
- Optimize startup time, memory usage, responsiveness, rendering, battery life, and network efficiency.
- Implement encryption, secure authentication, certificate validation, and secure credential or key management.
- Develop automated unit, integration, UI, and end-to-end tests.
- Drive CI/CD automation, deployment, release quality, feature flags, progressive rollouts, and kill-switches.
- Own release health using telemetry for crash-free rates, performance budgets, and defect trends.
- Collaborate with Product Management and UX on scope, feasibility, and technical tradeoffs.
- Share knowledge, participate in code reviews, help engineers grow, and evaluate emerging platform, AI, and tooling technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of professional client/frontend software development experience.
- Deep production expertise in at least one of iOS, Android, or Electron/Angular.
- Strong device-connectivity experience with Bluetooth Classic, BLE including GATT design, USB, and Wi-Fi provisioning and discovery.
- Experience with pairing, interference, bandwidth constraints, and reconnection behavior.
- Experience developing backend APIs with a modern stack such as .NET/ASP.NET Core, Node.js with NestJS/Express, Java with Spring Boot, or Python with FastAPI/Django.
- Working knowledge of embedded hardware integration, including firmware constraints, command protocols, calibration, OTA updates, and telemetry error handling.
- At least one year of hands-on use of modern AI engineering tools and practical experience integrating AI/LLM capabilities where relevant.
- Expert proficiency in Swift, Kotlin, or TypeScript and the corresponding native UI framework.
- Strong understanding of platform concurrency models, architectural patterns, REST API consumption, debugging, profiling, performance optimization, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Working knowledge of secure credential storage and application telemetry or observability tools.
- Clear communication, cross-functional collaboration, knowledge sharing, and mentoring skills.
