Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, integration, and verification of flight software for high-performance space vehicles.
- Architect real-time flight software for command and telemetry, mission sequencing, autonomy, and fault management.
- Develop and integrate closed-loop control software for propulsion, attitude control, and other time-critical vehicle systems.
- Develop anomaly detection and mitigation algorithms for sensor failures, actuator malfunctions, and radiation-induced faults.
- Mentor flight software engineers and provide technical direction.
- Support ground integration, environmental testing, mission operations, and troubleshooting of real-time issues during on-orbit operations.
- Collaborate with GNC, avionics, propulsion, systems, mission operations, suppliers, primes, and government customers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of professional experience developing C/C++ code for embedded aerospace systems.
- At least 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
- Experience with computer architecture, operating systems, deterministic real-time execution, embedded networking, and Embedded Linux.
- Preferred: active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
- Preferred: experience delivering flight software for spacecraft, launch vehicles, upper stages, OTVs, responsive spacecraft, or other high-performance aerospace systems.
- Preferred: experience with flight software frameworks, middleware, distributed software architectures, or publish/subscribe messaging patterns.
- Preferred: participation in spacecraft integration, testing, launch, and mission operations.
- Preferred: experience integrating software and hardware components across vehicle, payload, or mission systems.
- Preferred: strong communication skills and ability to lead technical discussions and design trade studies.
