Responsibilities
- Build new Android features and platform capabilities using autonomous vehicle data and operational insights.
- Develop features that drive autonomous vehicle adoption and business growth on Uber’s platform.
- Lead technical projects end-to-end from inception and design through global deployment and productionization.
- Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, operations teams, internal stakeholders, and external partners.
- Balance speed, performance, quality, and business objectives in technical decision-making.
- Define standards for testing, monitoring, and alerting systems and oversee complex organizational incident management.
- Improve engineering velocity and quality through technical excellence, standards, and organization-wide frameworks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent qualification.
- At least 4 years of software engineering experience.
- Extensive hands-on Android development experience with Java and/or Kotlin, including code reviews.
- Proven ability to lead technical projects through all lifecycle stages.
- Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, distributed systems, system design, and architecture.
- Strong communication, collaboration, ownership, self-motivation, and learning orientation.
- Preferred: master’s or PhD in a related field; cross-platform iOS and Android development experience; mobility or delivery application experience; experience with globally scaled mobile apps; strong mobile UI and feature-development skills; and experience addressing architectural gaps and technical debt.
Benefits
- For San Francisco and Seattle roles, the base salary range is USD $202,000-$224,000 per year.
- Eligible full-time employees may participate in Uber’s bonus program and may receive equity awards and other compensation.
