Responsibilities
- Own the software architecture for the AEOSx Digital Surgery product line, including surgical visualization, imaging, data management, cybersecurity, and robotic integration.
- Establish architecture standards, governance, technology roadmaps, and reusable software-platform practices across the organization.
- Define software architecture and data strategies for cloud-based digital surgery applications, scalable connectivity, and digital health capabilities.
- Serve as the technical authority and partner with Engineering, Product Management, Quality, Regulatory, Systems Engineering, and R&D on technical direction and product strategy.
- Lead architectural reviews, technical trade-off analyses, system integration, and software compliance efforts for open-source and third-party components.
- Mentor software engineers and guide architecture throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Collaborate with Software Engineers and R&D Scientists on advanced technology initiatives and long-term product roadmap capabilities.
Requirements
- 12+ years of related HW/SW/System experience with a bachelor's degree; or 10+ years with a master's degree; or a PhD with 8+ years of experience; or equivalent experience.
- Significant experience leading software architecture efforts.
- Strong communication skills and ability to interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook or equivalent tools.
- Experience programming in C++ and applying object-oriented design.
- Experience developing regulated medical-device software in accordance with IEC 62304, FDA Design Controls, ISO 13485, and related standards.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git.
- Knowledge of standard programming concepts, best practices, and procedures.
- Working knowledge of Scrum or other Agile development methodologies.
