Responsibilities
- Design, build, own, and drive adoption of an end-to-end test framework in Playwright across React and Django repositories.
- Integrate fast, reliable test suites into continuous integration pipelines and reduce flaky tests.
- Audit interfaces against WCAG 2.2 Level AA and remediate accessibility defects in product code.
- Build automated accessibility checks into pipelines and perform manual verification with screen readers.
- Develop and evaluate AI tooling for code review, test generation, and repetitive engineering automation.
- Write reusable code and documentation, explain complex concepts, mentor others, and promote testing and accessibility improvements in the open-source community.
- Provide technical leadership, make tradeoff-aware design decisions, and collaborate with global contributors.
- Travel occasionally, up to 20%, including designated company summits and other business events.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience building and testing enterprise-grade web applications.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
- Deep hands-on experience designing and maintaining Playwright end-to-end test automation frameworks, including fixtures, page objects, parallel execution, test data management, and flaky-test reduction.
- Comparable Cypress or Selenium experience may be considered with willingness to work in Playwright.
- Experience delivering interfaces compliant with WCAG 2.1 or 2.2 Level AA, including semantic HTML, ARIA, keyboard navigation, focus management, and color and contrast requirements.
- Experience with automated accessibility tools such as axe-core, Lighthouse, or pa11y and manual testing with NVDA, JAWS, or VoiceOver.
- Experience applying AI to engineering workflows through coding agents, assistants, custom automations, or model-backed integrations.
- Working proficiency in TypeScript and React and/or Python and Django.
- Experience maintaining test suites in CI/CD pipelines, including containerized test environments with Docker and AWS.
- Proficiency with Git, GitHub, pipenv, and related development tools.
- Experience integrating third-party platforms and building custom API endpoints.
- Familiarity with OAuth 2.0, SAML, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
- Strong communication, documentation, problem-solving, design judgment, community collaboration, and mentoring skills.
- Experience with visual regression, contract, or performance testing; Section 508, VPAT, higher-education accessibility obligations, and Open edX are preferred.
