Base Salary
$170k - $220k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead major initiatives and own a large area of Shepherd’s product experience.
- Drive technical decisions for the assigned domain.
- Build across the stack and collaborate across underwriting, design, product management, and insurance.
- Contribute to product strategy and architectural decisions.
- Balance innovation with pragmatic delivery while shipping high-quality products.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to the company’s engineering culture.
- Collaborate with the CTO, product managers, underwriters, actuaries, and other insurance team members.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience, preferably as a full-stack engineer.
- Experience working with JavaScript or TypeScript on the backend and/or frontend.
- Track record of delivering high-impact products.
- Experience with insurance, InsurTech, or actuarial work is preferred.
- Ability to lead or make major contributions to significant projects.
- Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Willingness to mentor engineers and contribute to team growth.
- Ability to work effectively in ambiguity and take end-to-end ownership.
