Responsibilities
- Lead development and begin architecting scalable, elastic distributed-system components for horizontal and vertical scaling.
- Optimize code and systems for large-scale data processing and high-throughput workloads.
- Design fault-tolerant, durable systems using redundancy, replication, automatic failover, load shedding, throttling, and rate limiting.
- Define scalability requirements, KPIs, telemetry, SLOs, dashboards, alerts, and operational-readiness expectations.
- Design correctness, availability, replication, synchronization, performance, load, fault-injection, and brownout testing.
- Diagnose, debug, and resolve production issues; participate in incident response, root-cause investigations, and operational support rotations.
- Implement security controls, execute remediation plans, maintain compliance documentation, and protect data in multi-tenant environments.
- Develop infrastructure automation and IaC tools for cloud management, patching, updates, and rollbacks.
- Coordinate moderately complex initiatives, delegate and prioritize work, and provide technical oversight.
- Collaborate across teams, mentor junior engineers, support continuous improvement, and participate in candidate interviews and hiring recommendations.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to lead development and begin architecting scalable distributed systems.
- Experience designing hyper-scale systems for elasticity, high throughput, large-scale data processing, and data-plane retrieval, storage, and processing.
- Experience designing fault-tolerant systems with redundancy, replication, failover, partition-handling, consistency, availability, and durability strategies.
- Experience with telemetry, monitoring, dashboards, alerting, SLOs, fault injection, brownout testing, data replication, and synchronization.
- Ability to troubleshoot production systems, support incident response, and ensure operational readiness.
- Experience implementing security controls, encryption, access controls, compliance practices, and remediation plans in cloud or multi-tenant environments.
- Experience developing infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code, along with patching, update, rollback, and change-management processes.
- Ability to coordinate projects, collaborate with stakeholders, mentor peers, improve processes, and contribute to hiring decisions.
