Base Salary

$125k - $175k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design and train scalable AI/ML models for engineers across SpaceX.
  • Develop agentic AI systems and multi-agent workflows for engineering tasks.
  • Build and optimize large-scale ML training pipelines and foundation models, including LLM, vision, and multimodal systems.
  • Create production AI tools for data analysis, anomaly detection, predictive modeling, and automated decision-making.
  • Own the AI model lifecycle from data preparation and training infrastructure through deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
  • Prototype and evaluate AI systems while measuring performance, accuracy, reliability, safety, bias, and technical constraints.
  • Collaborate on AI architecture, model design, training strategies, code reviews, testing, validation, and data security.
  • Deep-dive into engineering problems and implement custom-trained AI solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, engineering, mathematics, or physics, or four years of professional experience building and training AI/ML systems in lieu of a degree.
  • At least one year of professional AI software engineering experience focused on model training, fine-tuning, and machine learning systems.
  • At least one year of programming experience in Python.
  • Expertise with LLM transformer architectures, pre-training, supervised fine-tuning, and reinforcement learning is preferred.
  • Experience training and fine-tuning LLMs and other foundation models at scale, and training computer vision models, is preferred.
  • Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, large-scale distributed GPU training, hyperparameter optimization, experiment tracking, and MLOps is preferred.
  • Knowledge of statistics, machine learning theory, deep learning, optimization, model evaluation, Linux, Git, testing, deployment, and ML monitoring is preferred.
  • Experience building agentic AI systems, multi-agent workflows, data infrastructure, relational and non-relational databases, data lakes, feature stores, Docker, and Kubernetes is preferred.
  • Applicants must satisfy applicable U.S. ITAR eligibility or authorization requirements.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
