Base Salary
$125k - $160k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop reliable software and AI-powered applications used across SpaceX production, flight, and Starlink operations.
- Create applications incorporating large language models, agentic systems, and other AI capabilities.
- Own applied AI systems from prototype through design, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
- Identify high-leverage user problems and deliver efficient, production-grade AI solutions.
- Architect reliable and safe systems for agentic workflows, tool use, multi-agent orchestration, advanced retrieval, and long-context applications.
- Build evaluation frameworks and production observability for AI quality, safety, latency, and cost.
- Track emerging LLM techniques and incorporate relevant practices into SpaceX production systems.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Operations, and users to deliver AI capabilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, math, or a scientific discipline, or at least two years of professional software development experience in lieu of a degree.
- At least one year of full-stack development experience.
- Hands-on experience evaluating, deploying, and integrating AI models into production systems and delivering end-to-end AI products or features.
- Experience with agentic systems, tool use or function calling, multi-agent orchestration, advanced retrieval, fine-tuning, and structured outputs.
- Experience building AI evaluation and observability systems, including LLM-as-judge, automated evaluations, A/B testing, red-teaming, tracing, quality metrics, safety, and cost monitoring.
- Strong production software architecture and software engineering skills with clean, maintainable code.
- Programming experience in Python, C#.NET, Go, Scala, Java, or a similar language.
- Production experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Kafka or similar data-streaming technology.
- Front-end experience with Angular, React, or similar technology and database experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or similar technology.
- Applicants must meet applicable ITAR eligibility requirements or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations.
- The role may require extended hours or weekends depending on launch cadence.
