Base Salary
$92k - $144k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain tools that help communities identify, mitigate, and prevent abuse across Wikimedia projects
- Design privacy-conscious systems that detect abuse-related behavioral patterns while minimizing false positives and respecting anonymity
- Adapt abuse detection and mitigation strategies to browser privacy standards, networking protocols, and platform architecture
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and researchers on human-centered safety solutions
- Write resilient, maintainable, high-quality code focused on long-term sustainability
- Implement observability to maintain system quality and stability
- Instrument systems and measure the impact of anti-abuse work across Wikimedia projects
Requirements
- At least 1 year of related professional experience
- Experience building and maintaining large-scale applications
- Proficiency in PHP, JavaScript, or a similar language
- Proficiency in relational databases
- Strong foundation in security principles
- Experience driving cross-team objectives and user and product impact
- Familiarity with abuse fighting or security concerns is preferred
- Open source contributions are preferred
