Responsibilities
- Craft and implement embedded firmware for wireless SoC bring-up and connectivity enablement.
- Implement PHY bring-up, RF calibrations, signal-processing algorithms, and performance tuning.
- Develop system-level APIs and firmware functionality with product software and manufacturing teams.
- Develop SoC test and calibration capabilities for wafer, module, and system factories.
- Architect, define, and implement wireless algorithms, calibrations, and protocols with RF/Radio, DVT, PHY, and Systems Engineering teams.
- Debug real-time systems using development boards and laboratory equipment.
- Support pre-silicon validation through simulation, emulation, and FPGA prototyping.
- Support post-silicon bring-up, validation, performance characterization, system integration, and debugging.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree and 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Knowledge of embedded systems, including multithreaded environments, interrupt processing and latency, multicore environments, and hardware/firmware semaphores and resource management.
- Strong embedded firmware development experience using C and assembly languages, with familiarity with ARM CPUs and their internals.
- Understanding of embedded wireless communication systems, radio and PHY fundamentals, RF performance metrics, and digital signal-processing algorithms.
- Ability to translate Python NumPy/SciPy algorithms into embedded C and make fixed-point versus floating-point arithmetic tradeoffs.
- Experience with low-level hardware interfaces, register and interrupt programming, bare-metal software, and clock and power management.
- Understanding of RTOS, concurrency, and multiprocessor systems.
- Experience using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and power meters.
- Experience implementing diagnostics, manufacturing tests, and protocol-compliance software.
- Knowledge of Bluetooth, WLAN, Zigbee, or UWB wireless communication standards is a plus.
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language such as Python, Perl, or Tcl.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
