Responsibilities
- Design, build, deploy, and own high-performance, multi-region backend services.
- Drive architectural decisions and non-functional requirements for performance, load testing, and infrastructure scaling.
- Develop distributed systems, microservices, event-driven messaging, REST APIs, data models, caching solutions, and database queries.
- Analyze production metrics, logging, and other observability signals to improve services and ship products.
- Participate in 24/7 on-call support for production issues on a rotation every 3–4 weeks.
- Mentor junior and peer engineers, lead design sessions, conduct code reviews, and communicate architectural concepts across teams.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of software development experience designing, deploying, and owning complex production services.
- At least 4 years of experience with backend REST services and relational or NoSQL databases.
- Experience building and scaling multi-region distributed architectures, microservices, or SOA systems.
- Experience with Go, Kafka or comparable messaging queues, PostgreSQL, Redis or comparable caching technologies, and distributed data modeling.
- At least 2 years of experience with messaging queues such as Kafka.
- At least 2 years of experience driving non-functional requirements for performance, load testing, and infrastructure scaling.
- Knowledge of computer science principles, design patterns such as Gang of Four, observability, logging, metrics, and production on-call operations.
- Experience designing and maintaining high-volume RESTful APIs using functional and object-oriented programming paradigms.
- Demonstrated mentoring, design leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
