Base Salary
$200k - $271k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and evolve low-latency, highly reliable systems that orchestrate multi-step agentic workflows across multiple LLM models.
- Drive integration strategy across model providers and internal science teams as the model landscape evolves.
- Define architectures and design patterns for multi-agent coordination, agent swarms, and tiered agent systems.
- Build observability and visibility systems that make agent behavior observable, debuggable, and controllable at scale.
- Architect context-sharing solutions for agent swarms and multi-agent workflows.
- Own performance and scalability for systems whose latency affects developer productivity.
- Set technical direction for a rapidly evolving architecture and influence agentic AI system design across Amazon.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership for ambiguous, open-ended engineering problems and mentor or lead engineering teams.
Requirements
- 12+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 12+ years of experience leading the design or architecture of new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or engineering team lead.
- Preferred: 12+ years across the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
- Preferred: Experience with AI/ML agent systems, multi-agent coordination, or workflow orchestration patterns.
- Preferred: Experience building observability, debugging, or monitoring systems for complex distributed workflows.
- Preferred: Experience solving difficult problems involving context management, state coordination, optimization, network communication, or autonomous system control.
- Preferred: Experience scaling platforms from individual users to team and enterprise deployments.
- Preferred: Contributions to open-source agent frameworks, orchestration tools, or developer platforms.
- Preferred: Rust proficiency or experience with database internals, query engines, or storage system design.
