Responsibilities
- Develop secure, high-performance military communications hardware and firmware as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team.
- Decompose system requirements into detailed, traceable hardware design specifications.
- Design digital logic in VHDL and perform synthesis, logic simulation, testbench generation, functional testing, and FPGA/CPLD hardware debugging.
- Architect, implement, and test embedded firmware and software for FPGA-based digital designs, including signal processing, control logic, and high-speed interfaces.
- Integrate and troubleshoot hardware, firmware, software, and digital subsystems across prototype and production phases.
- Support requirements development, system architecture, integration, qualification testing, production transition, design reviews, technical documentation, and configuration management.
- Provide technical input for cost estimates, schedules, and risk assessments while collaborating with firmware, software, RF, systems, and test engineering teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 6 years of experience in embedded hardware and digital design; 8 or more years is preferred for the senior level.
- Experience across the full product development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, system design, hardware implementation, integration, testing, embedded firmware/software architecture, technical documentation, and formal design reviews.
- Strong VHDL, FPGA, SoC, CPLD, and microcontroller design and implementation experience.
- Experience with C/C++ software development for embedded real-time systems and RISC processor architectures such as ARM Cortex, MicroBlaze, PowerPC, or RISC-V.
- Experience with digital interfaces such as I2C, SPI, RS-232/422, USB, and Ethernet, plus ADC/DAC devices and hardware debugging using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance are required; active Secret clearance and ability to obtain Top Secret clearance are preferred.
- Preferred experience includes Xilinx, Microsemi, STMicro, or Lattice devices; PCIe, JESD204B, LVDS, and SERDES; MATLAB, Python, or LabVIEW; Linux, VxWorks, or FreeRTOS; signal processing in HDL; Xilinx IP Cores, AXI4, or AXI-Stream; analog and RF subsystem integration; military communications systems; prototype-to-production transition; and schematic or PCB design tools.
