Responsibilities
- Build monitoring systems, dashboards, alerts, and telemetry for the Sentry tower fleet.
- Remotely diagnose issues across compute, software services, firmware, sensors, cameras, power controllers, and connectivity.
- Perform incident root-cause analysis and develop automations to reduce manual operational work.
- Plan and execute staged software, firmware, and configuration rollouts across the fleet.
- Review incident trends, identify recurring failure modes and process gaps, and write or maintain runbooks and troubleshooting guides.
- Provide hardware and software teams with feedback on system and subcomponent reliability.
- Participate in on-call or escalation rotations for operational events and coordinate with support, field operations, engineering, and quality teams.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in SRE, DevOps, systems engineering, or a similar role running production infrastructure.
- Strong Linux skills, including systemd, journald and log analysis, SSH-based remote debugging, and shell scripting.
- Solid networking knowledge covering TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP/ARP, firewalls, and connectivity troubleshooting.
- Experience with observability tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, or Grafana.
- Proficiency in Python, Rust, or a similar language for automation and tooling.
- Experience with incident response, root-cause analysis, postmortems, and runbooks.
- Comfort working across hardware and software boundaries and coordinating with field technicians, engineers, and operations teams under time pressure.
- Eligibility to obtain and hold a U.S. Secret security clearance.
- Preferred experience includes managing embedded or edge-device fleets, working with embedded compute platforms, and familiarity with NixOS.
- Preferred qualifications include knowledge of cameras, radar, GPS/GNSS, solar, batteries, generators, power controllers, RF and mesh radios, Starlink, or LTE backhaul, plus defense, aerospace, border, or critical-infrastructure security experience.
