Responsibilities

  • Develop software for NASA Ames’s M2M CSDS and WITME planetary exploration tools.
  • Build interactive, shared planning, replanning, and execution-monitoring capabilities for distributed science teams.
  • Integrate approved AI tools such as Google Gemini to provide data summarization and search capabilities.
  • Develop user interfaces and displays for communicating terrain-model confidence and uncertainty.
  • Implement 2D geographic mapping, 3D terrain visualization, map services, projections, and coordinate systems.
  • Support statistical fusion of orbital and surface terrain data into unified 3D models.
  • Work with active CLPS science teams to populate proof-of-concept systems with mission-relevant data.
  • Gather end-user feedback and iteratively improve tool design.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Expertise in JavaScript and at least one common JavaScript MVC framework such as Vue, React, Bootstrap, or Angular.
  • Experience designing and implementing user-facing applications with responsive design and ADA compliance.
  • Proficiency with server-side services, APIs, database tools, and complex JavaScript applications.
  • Understanding of 2D geographic mapping libraries such as OpenLayers, CesiumJS, Three, Leaflet, or Google Maps API.
  • Familiarity with map projections, coordinate systems, map-layer services, Google or Bing Maps, MapBox, WMS providers, and DEMs.
  • Experience with 3D graphics and the mathematical concepts used in terrain mapping.
  • Preferred experience integrating AI tools into user-facing applications.
  • Preferred interest in or experience working with robots and mobility systems.
  • Preferred familiarity with GDAL, GeoTIFF files, Python, Flask or Bottle, Docker, Redis, and PostGIS or Postgres.
  • Expected stack experience includes CesiumJS, Vue, Webpack, ES6, Bootstrap, Docker, Python, Flask, Postgres/PostGIS, Lunaserv, SSE, and Redis.

Benefits

  • Compensation for this California Bay Area contract ranges from $145,000 to $230,900 in base pay.
  • Potential additional compensation may include bonuses, commissions, sign-on bonuses, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary performance payments.
